John Breen's "Old Men In Hats" is the title cut from his latest traditional Irish music album. This video also features, Tommy Breen, renowned whistle player and songwriter. The lyric, written by Terry Kavanagh, is about a local pub he frequented called "The Pole", that existed during a space in time in Wicklow - Co. Wicklow Ireland. Kavanagh brilliantly paints a lyrical picture of a run-down establishment and it's host of local patrons and quirky characters. Sometimes life's real or true beauty is found in the not so pretty places. Such as Kavanagh and the way he felt about The Pole, expressing in the lyric, "the place seemed like heaven to me." John Breen delivers the lyric with soul, and conviction, placing you right in the mix of the people and the surroundings of establishment. Special thanks to Trina Flaherty, for the use of two photos that appear in the video of patrons at The Pole.
